THE STORY ~
Now that the weather is starting to get nicer (yea right)... we wanted to get outside and do some fun dates! Last year many of our most memorable dates were outside spending time walking/running the lakes, having picnics, or a bottle of wine by the water, mini golfing...etc. On Monday night before bed Brent asked if I wanted to go out to dinner and a fun date Tuesday evening. Of course I said yes, since we haven't been able to get out and do much lately!
So Tuesday night came, torrential rain and all, we were on our way to a restaurant that was to be a surprise to me. Once we took the exit off Hwy 100 to 50th, I knew where we were going, Broder's Pasta Bar, our first date spot! We have been there several times since; it's one of our favorites. We had a great dinner and some wine, and before we left Brent ordered a shot of expresso (weird for 8:30 at night, but I didn't think anything of it).
After dinner he encouraged me to use the bathroom before we went to another surprise place for dessert. Being the germaphobe that I am, I refused to use the dual sex bathrooms there. Eventually I did, since he assured me I would have to hold it for awhile...ughh (always cooperating!) :)
We drove around Lake Harriett, Lake Calhoun, and Lake of the Isles...and then he stopped the car, and asked if I wanted to go for a walk.
"Umm....NO, it's pouring rain."
He ended up coaxing me out of the car anyway with my umbrella in hand. We got no more than 10 feet in front of the car and I saw a bolt of lightening, and then heard a huge BOOM of thunder above us! I bolted back to the car!
He got me to come back out after a few minutes and we walked down closer to the lake by the tree, right next to our picnic spot- he reminded me :)
He went on about our relationship and us, and said many sweet things, got down on his knee in the pouring rain and asked me to be his forever.
and.... I said YES!!
